In a shocking incident, two California teenagers, aged 14 and 15, are accused of brutally attacking a 66-year-old man outside a church. Prosecutors allege that the pair returned multiple times to take turns assaulting him before stealing his clothes and fleeing the scene.
Davy Glen Pichel, hailing from Oxnard, was discovered injured and partially undressed outside St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on the morning of June 5, following an assault that occurred the previous night, as stated in a press release from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
Two teenagers reportedly attacked a local man while he was asleep. Church cameras recorded the alleged attack as it happened, according to the DA’s office.
“The video shows the teens approach Mr. Pichel as he was seated near the church side door next to his wheelchair,” the office said in its release. The teens allegedly beat and stomped the victim. They briefly walked away, but then allegedly returned to take turns to stomp him again.”
Pichel reported that the teens came back “multiple times” to mistreat the victim. In a shocking turn of events, the teens reportedly launched a final wave of aggression during the third assault, stripping Pichel of his clothing before making their escape, as stated by prosecutors. A church volunteer discovered Pichel near the side entrance, suffering from severe head and facial injuries, and he was declared dead at the scene.
Prosecutors have announced that the arraignment for the teens, originally set for this week, has been postponed until June 24. On Thursday, the DA’s office informed Law&Crime that they are currently detained at a local juvenile facility and are facing charges in juvenile court.
