A Long Island man faces allegations of assaulting an individual with Down syndrome, as reported by the Suffolk County Police Department.
Authorities have charged Raliek Leonard, 28, from Central Islip, with endangering the welfare of a vulnerable individual and third-degree assault, as reported by police.
Local agency on Long Island reaches out to officers for assistance with individuals with autism and Down syndrome. Authorities in Smithtown, N.Y., revealed that on June 3, a non-verbal adult resident with Down syndrome was discovered with facial lacerations and a swollen lip at the facility, according to police reports.

Authorities have uncovered that Raliek Leonard, an employee of the agency, was captured on security footage forcefully pushing the victim into a room, resulting in the victim hitting his head on the floor, according to police reports.
Leonard faces suspension from his role at the facility. Authorities have announced that he is scheduled to return to court on Thursday.
