Yuba County, CA — Authorities seized nearly 7,000 illegal marijuana plants and uncovered additional criminal activity during a major drug bust last week in Northern California, according to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office partnered with the regional SWAT team and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to execute multiple search warrants in the Brownsville and Dobbins areas. The coordinated operation targeted illegal cannabis cultivation sites.
During the sweep, investigators eradicated a total of 6,961 marijuana plants, while also discovering several other violations. Authorities reported finding an illegal firearm, banned fumigant pesticides, and multiple water code violations at the properties involved.
“While the primary focus was finding illegal marijuana cultivation, investigators quickly uncovered additional criminal activity, including the possession of an illegal firearm, illegal fumigant pesticides, and multiple water code violations,” YCSO said.
A 34-year-old man was arrested near Pine Ridge Drive in Brownsville, and a 61-year-old man was taken into custody near Sun Forest Court in Dobbins. Both individuals are facing charges of felony marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale, and resisting arrest, officials said.
The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the operation aimed to crack down on illegal grows that pose serious environmental and public safety risks, especially in rural communities.
The investigation is ongoing.
