8,000 Join 'No Kings' Demonstration in Las Vegas as Police Arrest Armed Protester

Las Vegas, NV – About 8,000 protestors gathered in Downtown Las Vegas on Saturday evening as part of a statewide “No Kings” protest against the Trump administration.

The worldwide protests coincided with a military parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the Army’s 250th anniversary, which also occurred on President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Demonstrators gathered in Downtown Las Vegas near the federal courthouse on Clark Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, holding signs.

The event on Saturday drew approximately 8,000 people, and 15 people were arrested as a result of it. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, four of the 15 arrests involved juveniles, one was a felony for assault with a deadly weapon, and one was a gross misdemeanor for possession of a dangerous weapon.

According to RTC Southern Nevada, Las Vegas Boulevard between Clark and Bridger Avenue was closed due to the protest. Clark Avenue was also closed in both directions between Las Vegas Boulevard and Fourth Street. Las Vegas Boulevard was also closed between Bonneville and Clark, according to Metro police.

According to RTC, Bridger Avenue was closed in both directions between Las Vegas Boulevard and 4th Street about 6:40 p.m.

Around 6 p.m., police were seen taking an individual from the crowd of demonstrators and confiscating numerous things, one of which appeared to be a bat. The guy was placed in a police van and driven away from the site.

Protesters marched up and down the Las Vegas Strip Saturday morning as part of a countrywide ‘No Kings’ demonstration. They started at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino and marched to the Bellagio Fountains before returning to the original location.
