61-year-old San Angelo Man Arrested for Assault and Threatening Victim with Metal Pipe

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A 61-year-old San Angelo man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman and chasing another person with a metal pipe during a heated dispute over trash and a bicycle, according to police.

Tommy Turner was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center at approximately 3:08 a.m. on June 25, facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a parole violation. His bond has been set at $15,000.

According to an affidavit filed in Tom Green County, San Angelo Police responded to the 1800 block of South Pierce Street following reports of a domestic disturbance. At the scene, a man told officers that Turner had threatened to hit him with a metal pipe.

Investigators later learned that Turner had allegedly been upset over trash and a bike left in front of his apartment. He reportedly confronted a woman upstairs, where a loud argument escalated into physical violence.

According to the affidavit, Turner allegedly knocked the woman to the ground, kicked her, and struck her in the face as she screamed for help. A man at the scene intervened, telling Turner to stop and suggesting that if Turner “needed to hit someone,” he could come downstairs.

Turner allegedly retreated to his apartment, retrieved a metal pipe, and aggressively advanced toward the man, following him through the parking lot and into the street while threatening to strike him. The man told police that Turner came within three feet of him during the confrontation.

When police arrived, they secured the scene and questioned Turner, who admitted to chasing the man with the pipe and threatening to hurt him.

Surveillance video from the scene reportedly corroborated the events, showing Turner retrieving the pipe from his apartment, holding it in both hands “as if to hit” the man, and chasing him into the street.

Turner remains in custody as the investigation continues.
