45-year-old Odessa resident dies in head-on collision with Semi

Odessa, TX — A 45-year-old Odessa man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning just outside the city limits, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The fatal crash occurred around 4:20 a.m. on June 6 at the intersection of Loop 338 and U.S. Highway 385.

Preliminary reports from DPS investigators indicate that a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Raymund Gabriel Rodriguez of Odessa, was traveling eastbound on Loop 338 when, for reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 2016 Freightliner Cascade pulling a trailer.

Rodriguez, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner, 46-year-old Michael Gonzalez Diaz of Miami, Florida, was not injured in the incident.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing. No additional details have been released at this time.
