A 40-year-old man was seriously injured Saturday after a repelling accident in the Three Falls area near Alpine, Utah.
According to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, the man was repelling in a rugged area when he fell and was impaled in the upper thigh by a stick. The incident occurred in a remote part of the Three Falls region, a popular outdoor destination for climbers and hikers.
Emergency crews from Utah County Search and Rescue and the Lone Peak Fire District responded swiftly to the scene. First responders applied pressure to the wound in order to control bleeding while awaiting further medical assistance.
Due to the challenging terrain, Life Flight was dispatched to hoist the injured man out of the area. He was then transferred to an ambulance and transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. His current condition has not been publicly disclosed.
Authorities have not released the man’s identity. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with outdoor activities and the importance of safety measures in remote wilderness areas.
