A man is in custody after allegedly attacking his mother with a hammer on Wednesday evening in west Harris County, resulting in her serious injuries.
Authorities report that the incident occurred shortly after 6:15 p.m. at a residence on Holly Way close to Barker Cypress.
Officers arriving at the residence discovered the 61-year-old mother in the backyard, her identity not disclosed. She was found with a head injury and struggling to breathe.
Initial reports indicate that a dispute occurred between a mother and her 24-year-old son, during which he allegedly struck her multiple times with a hammer. He subsequently sent a message to a friend on a gaming app detailing his actions.
According to investigators, that friend didn’t notice the message until roughly two hours later but managed to persuade the son to dial 911.
A man has been taken into custody at his residence, now confronting charges of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon.
The mother was airlifted to a hospital, where she is reported to be in serious condition. Authorities confirmed that the mother and son were the sole occupants of the residence, with no other injuries reported.
The inquiry is still in progress.
