A fight in a canyon left another young adult hospitalized, and two 18-year-olds have been charged with aggravated assault.
The 18-year-olds Aiden Jay Fullenwider and Tyler Shad Janeway are accused of felony aggravated assault. In addition, Janeway is accused of illegally purchasing, possessing, and consuming alcohol by a minor, possessing counterfeit writing, and being barred from using an identification card.
Documents show that a group of young adults climbed one of Utah County’s canyons on June 1. Janeway bought some alcohol with a fictitious ID card and carried it up the canyon.
The victim and the witness, two young adults, got into a fight while they were in the canyon. Fullenwider and Janeway intervened and started a physical altercation with the victim. Janeway and Fullenwider threw him to the ground and proceeded to assault him.
Before Janeway and Fullenwider were able to separate them and take the victim from the scene, the witness pleaded with them to stop. After leaving the canyon with the witness, the victim was driven by ambulance to the hospital.
After receiving reports of a physical altercation, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene. When they got there, they started looking around for the young adults and found a number of alcohol cans. Documents show that the sheriff officers were informed that one of the victims was being transported to the hospital while at home.
The victim and witness informed law authorities that the group had ingested “a significant amount of alcohol” before to the confrontation. Additionally, they informed sheriff deputies that Janeway had bought the booze using a forged ID, which the victim’s mother subsequently discovered in the car her son had driven up the canyon.
The man had a concussion in addition to serious injuries to his head and abdomen. According to medical personnel, the victim’s injuries resulted in severe bruising and blood in his urine. He informed officers that he would require follow-up visits after being released from the hospital.
Videos of the confrontation from the evening of June 1 were produced by another witness. Documents show that Janeway and Fullenwider are seen “kicking and hitting the victim several times.”
Fullenwider and Janeway were both charged with felonies and brought into the Utah County Jail.
