Albuquerque, NM – Albuquerque police are investigating a fatal crash involving two motorcycles that occurred late Thursday night on the city’s far West Side.
The incident took place around 11:15 p.m. near 1801 Arroyo Vista Boulevard NW. Responding officers discovered two wrecked motorcycles on Arroyo Vista Boulevard northbound and confirmed that one of the riders had died at the scene.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Team, the crash involved two Honda Grom motorcycles. Investigators say both riders were traveling south in the northbound lane of Arroyo Vista Boulevard when the second motorcycle collided with the rear of the first, which was slowing down.
The collision caused both riders to be thrown from their bikes. The rider in front sustained a broken leg and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The rider on the second motorcycle did not survive the crash.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and are working to determine whether speed, impairment, or other factors were involved.
